Who thought it could be so hard?

Borders Books had a coupon Monday & Tuesday that was good for 60% off of one book when you bought another one. You get get 2 discounted books if you bought 2 at full price. Picking out 4 books sounds easy, right? Wrong. Why? Because I like hardcovers over paperbacks & didn't want to spend as much as I would if I got any hardcovers. Not buying any hardcovers ended up crossing off most of my list & the other suggestions I'd asked for earlier. I even had a book already picked, when I discovered I could get it in hardcover.

What does this have to do with anything?
My adventures with being picky about books made me wonder who else is a picky?
Are you one of those people who has to have all the books in a set match?
Do you despise any format of book?
Do you care if the book is yours or borrowed?

YEAH it works :) thanks!

For me, I WANT to own a book - I have tried to do the libary thing, and it's great and free which is nice, but if I am reading it, I want to know it's mine, if I love it it's mine, if I did not I can give it away or swap it...but knowing it's mine makes a HUGE difference to me - yep I am NUTS!

As for a "format" I dont like - I am not an ebook reader - I CANT read stuff on the computer, no matter how much I want to read Mightnight Sun or, any of the amazing Fan fiction out there - I cant do it...and well, I LOVE the feeling of a book, so I stick with my books not the ereaders out there... :)

Yep, we all have our "things" I am kinda OCD about my books! :)

Here's my deal. I never bought books unless I had read AND loved them. Now I buy books without having read them, but if I didn't love them, they get given away. Or if it's an ARC and I loved it - I'll buy the real copy.

I don't have to have the books match. All of my HP books are paperback except the last one. Doesn't bug me.

I cannot read e-books.. just can't do it.

And I'll read a book no matter what.. I used to go to the library a ton but now I mainly use it for free audiobooks.

Jenn - I can't do the library either. I can't want a book, wait for it to come in & then read it in the alotted time. I always ended up with late fees, so I gave up. I prefer my books to be actual books. I will read some things on my computer, but it is not my preferred method.

Kristen - If I don't love it, it might become my nieces. If I have an ARC & liked it I'll but the actual book too. Example: I have an ARC of Eyes Like Stars sitting next to the hard cover, I also bought one for my niece.

I prefer them all to match, and I prefer hardbacks if I have read the book and just want to shove it on my shelf for later.

If it's a book I intend to read again (not many), I prefer paperback, because, get this, THEY LAST LONGER. Non-library bound hardbacks are very very flimsy.

Robbie - Really? I wouldn't have guessed that the paperback was more durable than the hardback. Also, which ones have made it in to your re-read category?

Oh, that's funny! I like paperbacks better because the jackets on hard covers just annoy me. However, if it's a hard cover without a jacket, I do like those.

And like you, I want all my books in a set to match. I'm quite anal about that :)
